UK farm waste enough to feed whole cities for a year – says report

Authors of a study into the extent of waste from farms in the UK estimate that “2-4 million people could be fed their 5 a day nationally on fruit and veg wasted on UK farms, equal to more than the population of Birmingham or Manchester” – reports the Independent. [‘Five portions a day’ is the recommended intake for fruit and veg in the UK.]
