On World Environment Day, India’s Environment Minister, Harsh Vardhan, announced that the country will eliminate all single-use plastics by 2022. He also pledged to cut single-use plastic from his own daily habits. The pledge is understood to refer to 100% plastic disposables, such as straws and bags, rather than to all plastic-mix packaging.
