Ford moves into an electric future

Ford’s recently announced all electric pickup, the F-150 Lighting, secured 44, 500 reservations within 48 hours of its release. The car’s relative affordability, with a starting price of $39,974, surprised many in the industry.

So what?

Electric vehicles have been struggling to penetrate into the US’ car market, with EV’s only making up 2.3% of sales in 2020. Ford’s F-series has been America’s best selling vehicle for the past 50 years, and the release of F-150 Lighting could signal the start of the mainstreaming of EVs in America.
