Uber wants to test the idea of on-demand, urban air transportation by 2020 in Los Angeles. Electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicles would take off and land on the tops of buildings and avoid the congested roads of big cities, bringing far-reaching changes to people’s lives. Quicker commutes will give communters time back to use on more productive things rather than sitting in traffic queues. There will be less traffic congestion and cleaner air within cities. Uber Elevate has already started exploring the barriers we’ll need to overcome to make ‘on-demand’ flying vehicles a reality.
