So what?

The 5th carbon budget specified steps that are needed to help UK achieve net zero emissions by 2050. As per the Committee on Climate Change’s progress report in 2018, the emissions from buildings were lagging behind the target due to slow uptake of new technologies and progression in the policies.

This step will be a much needed impetus for the government to help the buildings, be it commercial or residential, to slowly adapt to clean energy methods that ultimately pave the way for achieving the targets of a net zero economy by 2050.
