Libraries to become ‘warm spaces’ to tackle cost of living crisis

‘Warm Welcome’ was established in 2022 in response to the cost of living crisis, offering warm spaces and spaces for communities to come together.

Spaces include libraries, where hot food and drinks are served alongside “advice sessions on topics such as household budgeting”.

So what?

Poverty is linked with feelings of isolation and loneliness, and so the two pronged approach demonstrates a better understanding of what those in difficult circumstances might face. It emphasises the power of social connection, recognising it as part of the solution in the cost of living crisis.
