KFC, the global chicken shop chain, is officially working on a vegetarian fried chicken alternative with the hope of launching it by 2019. It will be introduced in the UK first, and will still have the same secret blend of 11 spices that all of Colonel Sander’s chicken is seasoned with.
With big name supermarkets and restaurants offering more and more plant based options, it was only a matter of time before fast food chains did the same. However, it comes as a bit of a surprise that a brand so synonymous with meat has taken the first step in offering a veggie alternative. This is good news for both consumers and the planet, and is further reinforcing the slow shift in our global food choices towards a more plant-based diet.
