London City Airport (LCY) has launched a competition with a £10,000 prize for the best innovation of a new, sustainable, sealable bag to be used at airport security. This is part of a larger campaign to make LCY the most sustainable airport in the UK. The deadline for the competition is 16th December 2019. The winner will have their product trialled at the airport in early 2020 and potentially win a commercial contract to supply their product to LCY passengers.

In other sustainability efforts, LCY has converted all of its coffee waste into biofuel as well as becoming the first UK airport to ban single-use plastic straws.
