It has emerged that Exxon Mobil and other major oil companies were aware of the dangers of climate change as early as the 1970s. They even formed a climate and energy taskforce in 1979 that considered a timely energy transition away from fossil fuels!

But instead, by the 1990s they opted for public denialism, while secretly factoring climate change impacts into their infrastructure.

Now Exxon is in court for fraud and racketeering over their stance on climate change - and these revelations are explosive - legal experts are drawing parallels with litigation against the tobacco industry...
